Brighten & Rejuvenate Your Eyes

Why Choose Lovell Plastic Surgery for Blepharoplasty?

The delicate skin around the eyes is often one of the first areas to show signs of aging. Drooping eyelids, excess skin, and puffiness can make you look tired or older than you feel. Blepharoplasty, or eyelid surgery, is designed to refine and refresh the eyelids for a youthful, rejuvenated look. The procedure can be done on the upper or the lower eyelids, or both.

Double board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Sabine Lovell specializes in advanced blepharoplasty techniques, including upper and lower blepharoplasty and scarless lower eyelid surgery (transconjunctival blepharoplasty). Dr. Lovell tailors each procedure to enhance your natural beauty while maintaining the uniqueness of your facial features. If you’re ready to brighten and rejuvenate your eyes, schedule a consultation with Dr. Lovell today.

Awaken Your Natural Beauty

What is blepharoplasty?

Blepharoplasty, also called eyelid surgery, is a cosmetic surgery that removes excess skin and removes or repositions redundant fat from the upper and lower eyelids to restore a youthful, rested appearance.

  • Upper blepharoplasty corrects sagging upper eyelids that cause a drooping appearance or even obstruct peripheral vision. By removing excess eyelid skin, upper eyelid surgery restores a natural contour to the upper lids.
  • Lower blepharoplasty addresses puffiness, fine wrinkles, and dark circles beneath the eyes by repositioning or removing excess fat and smoothing the lower eyelid skin. Dr. Lovell specializes in transconjunctival lower blepharoplasty, a scarless technique performed through the inner lower eyelid, making it ideal for patients who need to sculpt away puffiness without altering skin tone or lower eyelid position.

Blepharoplasty may be performed alone or combined with procedures such as a chemical peel or laser resurfacing, Blepharoplasty can also be done at the same time as facial fat transfer, brow lift, or facelift, for full facial rejuvenation tailored to your needs. In addition, select body procedures can be done at the same time as a blepharoplasty.

Advanced Techniques. Impeccable Results.

What is the blepharoplasty procedure like?

On the day of your blepharoplasty operation, Dr. Lovell will perform the surgery using local anesthesia and oral sedation or general anesthesia, depending on your needs.

  • Upper eyelid surgery: A precise incision is made along the natural crease of the upper eyelid to remove excess skin and fat, lifting and refining the upper lids.
  • Lower eyelid surgery: For lower blepharoplasty, Dr. Lovell may use a scarless transconjunctival approach, making the incision inside the lower eyelid to reposition or remove fat without an external scar. Excess skin, if present, may be removed with a “skin pinch” procedure, keeping the incision close to the lash line and more imperceptible.
  • Incision closure: External sutures are removed 5-7 days post-surgery to optimize scar healing.

Blepharoplasty surgery typically lasts 1-3 hours, and patients return home the same day.

Subtle Refinement for Effortless Confidence

What conditions does blepharoplasty address?

Blepharoplasty corrects a range of cosmetic and functional concerns related to eyelid aging, including:

  • Drooping upper eyelids that cause a heavy, tired appearance
  • Excess eyelid skin that can obstruct vision
  • Lower eyelid bags and puffiness can develop due to numerous factors, including genetics, fluid retention, and weakening of the supporting structures around the eyes as we age
  • Dark circles caused by fat displacement and shadows under the eyes
  • Fine wrinkles and sagging skin around the upper and lower eyelids

By making these fine adjustments, eyelid surgery beautifully enhances your eye shape, elevates your facial harmony, and restores a refreshed appearance.

Elevate Your Entire Look

What are the benefits of blepharoplasty?

  • Brighter, More Awake Appearance: Lifts drooping eyelids, reducing heaviness and opening the eyes for a youthful appearance.
  • Smoother Under-Eye Contours: Removes excess fat and refines the lower eyelid, eliminating under-eye puffiness.
  • Scarless Lower Eyelid Surgery Option: Transconjunctival lower blepharoplasty provides a scar-free approach for lower lid rejuvenation.
  • Minimal Downtime, Long-Lasting Results: Most patients recover within 1-2 weeks, with natural, refined results that last for years.

See Through to Your Most Radiant You

Is blepharoplasty right for me?

Ideal candidates for blepharoplasty surgery are individuals who want to correct drooping upper eyelids, lower eyelid bags, or excess eyelid skin. Candidates should be in good health and have realistic expectations about results.

You may not be a candidate if you have recently had eye surgery, have circulatory disorders, severe dry eyes, or a history of poor wound healing. Dr. Lovell will carefully evaluate your medical history to ensure that blepharoplasty can be performed safely.

Witness Your Transformation

Blepharoplasty Recovery

After eyelid surgery, patients typically experience mild swelling and bruising for the first 7-14 days. Applying cold compresses the first 24 hours after surgery helps reduce swelling. Eye drops and ointment may be prescribed to prevent dry eyes and improve scar healing.

Most patients return to normal activities within 10-14 days. Dr. Lovell provides comprehensive post-operative care to ensure a smooth healing process.

Look as Vibrant as You Feel

Blepharoplasty Results

Blepharoplasty provides long-lasting eye rejuvenation by lifting the upper eyelids and refining the lower lids. Results appear gradually as swelling subsides, with final improvements visible in 3 months.

With proper skincare and sun protection, results can last 10-15 years, helping you maintain a bright, youthful look.
